Introduction
Industrial management - the branch of engineering that deals with the creation and management of systems that integrate people and materials and energy in productive ways.
Industrial engineering -deals with the optimization of complex processes or systems. It is concerned with the development, improvement, and implementation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, analysis and synthesis, as well as the mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems or processes.

Objectives
The philosophy of teaching at Nan Kai University of Technology (NKUT) is rooted in four educational elements - realization, innovation, comprehensiveness, and harmonization (RICH). Based on the RICH philosophy of NKUT, the next generation of RICH Business people is being trained to possess mastery of property management, micro-business management, health care service management, and information technology applications.
Faculty
The Department of Business Administration teaching team consists of 10 faculty members (one professor, three associate professors, four assistant professors, and two professional instructors.) The faculty specializations include business management, marketing, human resource management, financial management, property management, entrepreneurial management, and health care service management.. In addition, many seasoned professionals are invited to share their expertise through related practical teaching activities. Business Administration faculty members participate in conferences, technical training, industry-university collaborations, experience-sharing, and research. These activities demonstrate and maintain the high caliber of the faculty, and provide the capacity for quality mentorship of students in their practical and academic study. In addition to strong classroom teaching, faculty members throughout the department work closely with students in all aspects of their academic life, from research to creative projects, university governance, and clubs and organizations.
Facilities
Department facilities include three specialized rooms, two computer laboratories, and one seminar room. To prepare the department for a strong future, we equip our computer facilities with the most advanced software and hardware available.
Teaching Planning
A critical tool in preparing students for the competitive world is the Commerce Hall, a total wireless internet teaching environment. Both quality and quantity are emphasized when distance education courses are designed. Effort is made to provide students with adaptive learning curriculums. The curricula for all programs are tailored to incorporate diversity, practicality, and fun into the learning experience without regard for distance.
To promote students’ professional and practical abilities in business management, we offer several programs complementing the regular curriculum. They include advising on attaining certificates, seminars, field trips to selected companies, summer internships, employment programs, research projects advised by experienced managers, and domestic and international academic exchanges (such as the Dual Degrees System).
Course materials are designed to foster student talent not only in the field of business management but also in the fields of property management, micro-business management, health care services management, and electronic-information technology applications. To this end, we make effort to integrate knowledge from related fields in the process of course planning, and provide students with both theoretical and practical training. These courses provide students with diversified knowledge and skills, suitable and useful for the competitive business world.
Research
Departmental focus areas correspond with the fields of active research being pursued by the faculty. The department is home to a number of research teams and programs contributing to the fields of property management, micro-business management, health care services management, marketing, and human resources management. Students strengthen their independent management, research, and planning skills through their work in these diverse programs.
Industry-University Cooperation
Our department is working closely with the private sector on various industry-university projects in the Taichung area. More than 20 different industrial associations and companies have contracts with us to date. The results are profound and are respected by our partners. Our students benefit greatly from the opportunity to participate in these research projects. By investigating issues arising from these industry projects our students have the opportunity to improve their practical management ability in the real workplace.

Students can pursue advanced education according to their interests in the fields of business administration, health care services management, marketing, strategic management, property management, technology management, human resources management, tourism management, and related areas. .
Career & Employment
Students can be go on to positions in general administrationor other professions including production, marketing, human resource management, research and development, and finance. In addition, our training provides our students’ with skills highly regarded in the fields of property management and tourism management. Students attaining TQC, MOUS, and various business and financial related certificates will show their employers exceptional competence in the areas of financial planning, marketing and property management. For students who are interested in working for the government, our training will be an excellent platform from which to extend their careers as public officials.
Department of Leisure Business Management Nan Kai University of Technology
Current Situation
The department graded First Degree by the Ministry of Education in 2010 and continuously proceed to execute the Professional Education Plan for the eighth year. The current semesters contain the four-year undergraduate program, the weekend program, the master program, the two-year undergraduate program. The department has 22 classes which include 800 students, and faculty embrace 2 professors, 5 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors.
The goal of education focuses on promoting students to have dynamic learning, active activity, innovative thinking, rigorous reaction, concerning societies, and become a potential leader in leisure management industry.
Objectives
The education objective of the department focuses on equipping students to possess the intelligent abilities of both Tourism Management and Recreation Management. In addition, the department will enhance the capabilities of students to handle leisure resources, utilization of computer software application skills, well-fare & health facilitation management, and athletic management.
Faculty
The department contains 2 professors, 5 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors. These professional professors’ fields include business management, leisure sports management, community leisure management, information management, leisure philosophy and so on. The department also invite several specialists who have practical experiences in dining, hotel, and accommodation.
Equipment
The Equipment Of the department contain Guided tours and tourism service center, Leisure thematic studies classroom, Hotel services technology classroom, Health promotion center, Hospitality services demonstration classroom, Spirit and body activation training center, and Graduate seminar room.
Curriculum planning
The department conducts business management as core basis classes. Core classes of the department contains leisure industry analysis, leisure health activities designs, and leisure business management. The professional classes focus on marketing management, community development and leisure management, leisure management, elder people activity designs, leisure activity planning, leisure industry investment and development, and innovation management. These lessons combine theory and application skill in order to create professional capabilities in leisure business management for students.
Industry Cooperation
The department facilitates to establish the relationship between academics and enterprises in order to provide the opportunities of cooperation among leisure companies in NanTou county. The department also offers diverse leisure business management disciplines programming to foster excellent leisure health management manpower, community leisure management manpower, leisure health facilitation manpower, recreation management manpower. The department prepares several programs to arrange students to visit enterprises in order to establish a closer link between academic teachings and actual practices of enterprises.
In the future, the department will enhance students’ competition in leisure business and pursue life-long studies. The department will establish more relevant equipment and increase professional faculty. The department encourages students to join overseas practical training, visit leisure enterprises, and have professional certificates.
